An initiative to address the issue of untreated grey water flowing openly by combining awareness efforts with on-ground solutions like soak pits.
What We did
Earth Healers Foundation began by directly engaging with the community through awareness drives, explaining the risks associated with unmanaged grey water and the importance of proper disposal. These interactions were conducted at the household level as well as through small group discussions, ensuring that the message was clearly understood and relevant to everyday life.
Alongside awareness, practical steps were introduced by promoting the use of soak pits as a simple and effective solution. The team facilitated and supported the construction of these pits in selected households, demonstrating their effectiveness. Simultaneously, the issue was taken up with local authorities to seek their involvement and encourage a more structured response to wastewater management.
What's next
The next phase focuses on scaling the solution across the entire village, ensuring that every household has access to and adopts proper grey water management systems. This will involve deeper engagement, demonstrations, and possibly collaborations for technical and financial support. In parallel, the foundation plans to work closely with local authorities to integrate these efforts into broader sanitation planning. The aim is to move from isolated improvements to a structured, village-wide system that prevents recurrence of the problem and protects public health over the long term.
