From repeated appeals to real infrastructure on the ground
A long-pending road issue affecting daily mobility was escalated through consistent follow-ups, resulting in the construction of a paved stretch covering the most critical section.
Overview
The Challenge
For years, a key stretch of road in the village remained unpaved, creating serious inconvenience for residents. During dry months, the surface was uneven and dusty, making travel uncomfortable and unsafe. In the monsoon, the situation worsened significantly, with mud and waterlogging making the road nearly unusable. This directly affected access to schools, healthcare, and daily work, particularly for children, elderly residents, and those relying on two-wheelers or walking.
Despite being a persistent issue, the road had not seen meaningful progress due to delays in execution and lack of sustained administrative attention. The absence of consistent follow-up meant that the matter remained pending without clear timelines. Over time, this led to growing frustration within the community, but without a structured approach, the issue continued to remain unresolved.
What We did
Earth Healers Foundation took a structured approach to address the issue by engaging directly with the concerned authorities. Formal applications were submitted, supported by on-ground documentation of the road’s condition, including photographs and detailed descriptions of its impact on daily life. The team ensured that the issue was not raised once and forgotten, but consistently followed up through meetings and repeated communication.
n addition to official channels, efforts were made to keep the community informed and involved, creating a collective voice around the need for action. The matter was escalated where required, ensuring it reached the appropriate levels within the administrative system. This persistence played a key role in moving the issue from discussion to execution.
Impact & Current status
This year, a paved road segment of approximately 600 meters was constructed, significantly improving accessibility in the most affected stretch. Residents now experience safer and more reliable movement, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
The constructed stretch is currently in use and has already made a visible difference in day-to-day life. However, other portions of the road still require attention and development.
What's next
The focus now is on ensuring that the remaining sections of the road are also brought under development. This involves continued engagement with authorities, monitoring progress, and pushing for inclusion of the full stretch in upcoming infrastructure plans.
At the same time, the foundation aims to strengthen community participation so that residents themselves remain active stakeholders in maintaining and advocating for better infrastructure. The goal is not just one completed stretch, but a long-term, reliable road network that supports the village’s growth and connectivity.
